Free and then I could look after my own safety.
Safe
Free
Free and then I could look after my own safety.
I don't think either extreme would be any good. There's little joy to be had from a life of constant fear and danger as well. At first i thought i would go with freedom, but i figured i take my current safety for granted.
EDIT: Of course i would love to be completely free but i think after trying both i would have to go with safety.

Just to complicate matters... Can someone define "freedom" for me? ie: What is freedom?

FREEDOM !
AND safe ... do you really want to mess with the Scots ?
"A woman without curves is like a road without bends, you might get to your destination quicker but the ride is boring as hell'
End thread for William Wallace.
Free. Being 100% safe is damn boring, as a rule.
oh dear...i like scotland but do you have to do the whole braveheart thing? It was mostly invented by Mel Gibson and too many people think we scots all live in Fort William, eat poridge, wear kilts all the time and play the bagpipes! Some people would say that today Scoltands independance is trivial compared with the economic benefits of being linked with the south.
the only way to be safe and free is to live of the grid. my dad said (when we stayed in Glenshee) there was someone who lived on the hillside, done cash in hand work, had no national insurance number etc - and noone knew his name....hes not the stig

In making jokes about Freedom and our ability to beat sh!t out of folks who try to remove it YES
Actually it was mostly invented by Victorian romantics. It was mostly invented by Mel Gibson
those are the best ones to tell about hunting the haggisand too many people think we scots all live in Fort William, eat poridge, wear kilts all the time and play the bagpipes!
You're reading one !Some people would say that today Scoltands independance is trivial compared with the economic benefits of being linked with the south.
You confuse use of an image with core belief
However, the beliefs of Wallace and all the other "heroes" who were written up well beyond their reality underpin the Scottish approach to life. ESPECIALLY humour ...... you sure you're Scottish ?

im 25% german! and 75% scottish...i agree with the humour...and that people like William Wallace (it is written that there where a few leaders as such, not necesrily less significant either) fought the period oppression of pagan english domination. I can jest over braveheart, lets just make sure they all know we are jesting because if they can believe in haggis they can beleive this joke surely
...but of course haggis hunting is real right?

Hooray for canada! we have a sort of mix between a socialist and capitalist mind set. we ARE taxed a lot though...
To answer the question... I find that depending on social context, pople will have different priorities. Someone in Irak for example will choose safety fot the sake of his family. While I, living where i do, would much rather have freedom.
