Dude, I have bad news for you: you're not going to wake up tomorrow and find Canada has drifted over and become part of Europe. You're part of North AMERICA and your allegiance to a Queen who doesn't care about you doesn't change that.
And by the way, F the Metric System.

Last week somebody at work was bitching about our high gas prices; basically I told them to quit whining because the the rest of the world pays about double what we do. They retorted that Europe's gas was so expensive because all the money raised to maintain the roads comes from fuel taxes. Compared to ours coming from a combination of sales/income/property/tolls/etc. Is there any truth to this?
NO.
The "truth" is most European governments have seen petrol as an easy tax target.
It's used to fund all the other programs the govs run.
In teh UK, very VERY little gets spent on roads

A funny point raised in the media: Shouldn't we be glad that gas prices are high if we're concerned about the enviroment?
Florida:
US $3.99 for 87.
Diesel at $5 / gallon
In Venezuela you can fill an empty Hummer with less than US $2.00
