the new challenger looks fine with the SRT-8 grill but i hate the crossbar grill
these new retro cars appear a lot chunkier and heavier than their past counterparts

While the older one was a big car as well it just looked longer and thinner while the new one is is stumpy like a pig.

That said it is the closest thing to classic muscle car styling in a long time and people will eat it up.

The older (original) ones weren't really a big car.

Wheelbase was 110" and overall length was 191.3".
Dodge Darts of the era had a 111" wheelbase and an overall length of 195-197" depending on the year and Darts were considered "compacts" back then.

The Plymouth Valiant was definitely a compact car in the '60s and even those were 188" throughout the '60s.

The original Challengers were quite wide, though, at 76.1". The Darts and Valiants were 70-72".

when i first saw it i thought it looked a lot better than the 06 concept model, i liked it because of the front air spoiler at the front and a different design at the front. and of course the 6.1L HEMI V8!

the best thing about the old challenger was its fantastic proportions. The new one got rid of that by getting longer, taller, and less wide. Any muscle/pony car that is less wide than its predecessor sux like the mustangs of the 70s

    Old Challenger
    Wheelbase 110.0 in (2794 mm)
    Length 191.3 in (4859 mm)
    Width 76.1 in (1933 mm)
    Height 50.9 in (1293 mm)

    New Challenger
    Wheelbase 116.0 in (2946 mm)
    Length 197.7 in (5022 mm)
    Width 75.7 in (1923 mm)
    Height 57.0 in (1448 mm)

    Dodge Challenger

I don't like the new Challenger, yet I have a Charger and love it. To me the front grille has lost its brand identity in search of this retro look. The new camarro is more aggressive looking all the way around which is what sells today; not hard bodies and soft faces. I'm sure the performance is impeccable, my Hemi is a road demon; I just want a more aggressive look for an aggressive performance

Hi, I wish they would make the Challenger in different body styles. I would love to see it turned into a wagon. It would be nice to give it some rear overhang so that it would have more carrying capacity. I was once at Home Depot and spotted a Dodge Magnum (same chassis) with a 120" wheelbase. I pulled up my '84 Volvo 240 wagon (with a 104" wheelbase) and my Volvo was longer! A real wagon needs the length in the rear cargo area. Wayne

welcome, interesting comment (being a wagon owner myself). But I don't think that the target group for selling Challengers are the home-depot/Wallmart regulars

Drove one of these over at the NASCAR Dover race this weekend. Was a nice drive but it definitely reminds you of a road cruiser with drag capabilities.

And it's sold in the US, where they have a sort of alergy to hatches and estates...
