I cannot believe anyone is this dumb...
on the other hand, some people are pretty stupid.
Thoughts anyone or similar stories?

The Datto will rage again...
there was that tourist in france who didn;t know what a manual was and left the diesel citroen in first apparently..

This reminds me. the Volvo MIGHT need a service soon.

I used to service my mini whenever it started running a little rougher.. but that was at most every four months. Oil change, clean plugs... etc... worked pretty well for me.
I'm not surprised. maybe as a car enthusiast I find pretty impossible to destroy an engine in that way. but I'm sure a lot of us don't know anything about other stuffs, like computers or even cooking. it's just the same.
my only complain is that if you are going to buy a car -----> spend a lot of money, you should know how to take care about it. but, on the other hand, there are still people, a lot of people, eating/drinking sh*t and smoking 30 cigarettes a day, while all of us know about that little thing called "cancer", even without being a doctor. we have to admit that car/mechanical knowledge isn't necessary for surviving.

7/10 people don't even hear a thing wrong with there cars, Until!, They have broken them.
I hearing everything and that at times is a bad thing.
"Just a matter of time i suppose"
"The elevator is broke, So why don't you test it out"
"I'm not trapped in here with all of you, Your all trapped in here with me"
AHAH i didn't meant it like that, i saw a story and pictures on the net, either on email or even here about a woman having driven a 3 series in first gear, and you know how storys go, everyone hads a bit to them, iirc it was a gold/champagne 3 series with central part of the hood completly burned off.
The citroen is probably another "event" like that.
"Religious belief is the “path of least resistance”, says Boyer, while disbelief requires effort."
How could you drive a manual w/o knowing how to operate the clutch?
"Kimi, can you improve on your [race] finish?"
"No. My Finnish is fine; I am from Finland. Do you have any water?"
This reminds me of that Side Glances column in Road and Track, the one quite a while ago where Peter Egan went on about his career servicing cars. One of the examples that sticks in my mind is the one where the lady kept driving her Datsun Roadster until the engine fell out despite the ominous noises because of some repair error.
I'm dropping out to create a company that starts with motorcycles, then cars, and forty years later signs a legendary Brazilian driver who has a public and expensive feud with his French teammate.
I love the fact that she did not know what an engine was.
UCP FTW!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually, I know computers and cooking as well.. I guess that means I'm brilliant!
Agreed that when spending that much on something you should at least try to learn something about taking care of it. Even if all you know is 'take it to a garage every 6 months' or 'little red lights on the dash means badness'. That's pretty basic stuff to keep track of...
I would have thought that something as simple as an oil change would be common sense. I thought they mention that stuff in drivers ed even. But I guess people do stupid things. Here's your sign lady.
