I was thinking more in terms of e39 m-pack 525d or 520d, but an audi a4 tdi looks like a smarter choice reliabilty/ running cost wise. We'll just have to see what time tells.

Having said that the rest of the car is made of epic and win. keep it simple, and it will reward you.

I have a question.
Everyone was saying that the amount of mileage it had was not good and since this thread is two years old I'm assuming you kept on driving it for two years?
So did you put a lot more mileage on and did the car still run fine?
(To be quite honest I'm not even 100% sure what damage having high mileage on a car entails.)
I did not put massively more miles ( km's) on it( because I was just a student , and thus in my situation not a hyper miler at all), but it's capable of lots more.
at around 200k , the spark plugs had to be replaced , and I did a compression test, all 6 cilinders were " like new" and the results between them were also consistent. In my experience with this car , as the miles get higher stuff wears out , like suspension bushings( really weak point for the e46,although I only replaced swaybar bushings) , cooling system needs some maintenance ( not really a big deal) etc... , but there is 1 part of the car that will almost never fail and that is the straight 6 under the hood. 200 000 km's is NOTHING for an m52TU. As allways : maintenance is the key. Only morons judge a car's mechanical condition only on the basis of the mileage.

Gotta remember that heh :P
Love the pictures.
Very nice car, my wife has a 328ci in the exact same colour but with chrome package (mouldings door handles) and comfort seats, same OEM wheels yours was optioned with, we recently had the front repainted due to stone chips and mags re coated, still holds its own in the looks department all these years later, and with the dark blue and tan it feels very classy to be in.
Looks like yours has some nice options, Xenon lights and NAV would be nice.
