Interesting notes on the fragility of the GTR transmission, it would sure turn me off buying one if I couldn't use it the way it was meant to.
On the subject of Corvettes and their apparent base-appeal, the fact of the matter is, the Chevrolet V8 has never had a great need for high technology development. I'm certain that if they were to go down the European/Japanese route, they'd develop a quad cam, twin turbo 7.0 litre V8 with 6 valves per cylinder and it would make more horsepower than a Bugatti Veyron (LOL).
It would cost half a million dollars and nobody would buy it.
Well said. Although I, admittedly, would tend to buy European if I had the money for high-end sports cars, America has its own little niche with cars like the Corvette and Viper. I'm sure GM/Ford/Chrysler have the brainpower to build a hyper-exotic $x00,000 supercar with alcantara Recaro seats and carbon fibre race dash, would someone choose it over a Ferrari 599.. or a Lamborghini Murcielago?
I respect the manufacturer's for building a dream car in the semi-affordable range for middle to upper class America.
