Oh i've also seen a portuguese police 911 (pre-993), and we have 'unmarked' BMWs 330d, Subaru Impreza STIs, AUDIs A8, VW Polo TDI, Nissan Almera, etc...

They are used as mobile speed radars.

All of the early Mercedes cop car were convertibles... I assume the assumption was you might need to shoot at other cars... and they weren't too concerned about return fire, apparently.

    Gansta, indeed!

Speaking of this, I was looking at Autoblog's coverage of the new Porsche Museum and they had a shot of a 356 Cabriolet with "POLIZE" on the back.

The list sucked but there are some good ones about, Australia got some FPV Typhoons a few years ago and will likely get some of the newer F6s sometime if they haven't already.

the Shelby variant seethes and stomps its way to a mile a minute in about the same time as a Corvette but shades it for fun thanks to its astonishing 480lb-ft of torque at 4500rpm and solid-axle rear suspension that allows the back end to fly out on fantastic cop-car action sequences.

Horsepower wins races. Torque pulls trailers.

After conversion, the Sheriff's Hummer H2 is powered by 7.0-Liter supercharged engine and has the top speed of 250 km/h. The sprint from 0 – 62mph is completed in just 6.5 seconds.

I would be more worried about stopping the car at high speeds. The dubs don't help either.

Must have been an impounded gansta car that they thought would be fun to turn into a police car.

the Hummer goes to show that there is a very thin line between the cob and the mob.

Police in Victoria had a line of HSV GTS Coupes a few years ago.

Back some years ago i was passed by a Commodore SS the Victoria police had. They claim they don't work them. However you don't mess the sound of a supercharger accelerating.
Victoria always had good interceptors in Ford/Holden over the years.

Yes, everything is bigger in Texas. Or so they say. So the compensation for a small penis requirement must be way larger too.

No offense to Texans, of course.

-> CNN included movie cars too, it completely defies the relevance of the topic. They should have included these instead:

    Brabus CLS Rocket (GER?)

    Lotus Exige (GBR)

    Lambo Diablo VT Roadster (ROK)

    Caparo T1 RRV (GBR)

    Nissan Skyline [R34] GT-R (JPN)

    Lambo Murcielago LP640 (GBR)

    Spyker C8 (NLD)

    Techart 997 Carrera S (GER)

    Cadillac CTS-V {Gen2} & Chevy Corvette [C6] Z06 (MI, USA)

Subaru Impreza WRX STi {GD} & Chevy Camaro Z28 (CO, USA)

^ Game Over Everyone, would be the theme here.
