I'd say a natural cherry stain or what kfa said by letting the wood bring out it's own color.

The wood is so light there's not much color. I think I'm going to go about it like it's done in the link from post 15, and use a dark cherry/burgandy color. Should be gorgeous.

Lookin' good man! Did you use a router to work the edges down or another method?

I used a round over bit on the back half, and a dremel tool for the more aggressive carving you see there. Today I routed the pickup cavities and neck pocket, and tested some dyes on the extra wood from cutting the shape, no pictures yet.

Trust me man, I'm looking forward to seeing it done more than anyone.

Thanks, you've seen the Central Park Concert version by Dave Matthews Band with Warren Haynes right?

Were you thinking of the Neil Young version? Because the Dave Matthews Band and Warren Haynes version is exponentially better.

The Dave Matthews version is mind blowing. Know of any more good covers like that?

By them? They usually play a few covers per show. Last year when they came here it was Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel and Burning Down the House by the Talking Heads. Both were stellar. They're coming May 1st. I'm so excited.

As far as other covers that are better than the original...Bobby Bland's version of Elvis' "In the Ghetto" is better, and Jimmy Buffett's version of Stephen Stills' "Treetop Flier" is worlds better, but it's a hidden track on "False Echoes (Havana 1941)" from Buffett's album Banana Wind. Oh, and pretty much any of the Metallica covers by Apocalyptica are better. They are four Finnish cellists, great stuff, definitely check them out.

    FABULOUS!

I am ordering the neck soon, that's really the point I'm stuck at. I need the neck so that I can fine-fit the neck pocket, then dye, and I'm pretty much done with the body.
