I don't mind a cosmetic update from time to time; but I think adding a Twitter (what the hell is Twitter about anyway?) and a Facebook would make UCP a little too commercial by attracting the sc.net types, and the quality of posts would for sure go down.
But that's not my call, Wouter?
i think i pretty much have the worst rep.on UCP with my Toyota/Honda hate posts. and boy, do i ever regret that. i don't actually get alot of mail on my Facebook acount and sometimes there may not be alot on who are my friends. if i do have friends on here, i balance from Facebook and UCP.

PINGAS!!!!
Twitter. stupidest thing ever. all it is basically is that its all about short messaging system by writing/posting very brief sentence's. i find writing short post is very pointless. i look it up my self. Facebook is better, or Windows Live Messenger. i hoped that helped LTSmashed.

I did suggest the idea of a new colour scheme to Wouter last year, for UCP's 10th anniversary, hasn't happened yet. No news either.
I guess he likes the current scheme and I'm okay with that.

In terms of quantity I think we are not doing so badly, but in terms of quality we are probably miles ahead of forums that are largely dominated by one or maximum two word posts.....

one more thing i forgot to mention,
- Sponsored comps.
when browsing older threads I see there were much more members, and reading to their posts, I don't mind them not being here anymore.
It surely used to me more active some months ago, but I don't see the quality being worst, neither the quantity being too low.
Also, if you notice, the whole automotive world is slower now, not only economically, but in terms of releases, news, even the smaller ones. As a small example, I regularly check netcarshow.com just for the sake of knowing new cars being available, the images are too small and too low on quality.
One year ago there were even 10 cars per day added to the site, while recently that has slowed down sensibly.
Also, older cars images and news have been posted, not all of them, but a large part, so less threads, less new images to posts and so on.
Perhaps discussions are becoming less popular and involving less members as opposed to the whole community, but it's up to each member to enter the discussion or not. People are still here, just posting less probably.
People from Down Under are posting less for instance, I noticed that, but don't ask me why.
A lot of mods are gone too, just check the mods list, 14 of them aren't posting anymore, while other 2 or 3 are posting or visiting very rarely.
That said, the forum is technically working, Wouter's updates are excellent, the hide-out is still there and being updated, so everything is fine.
Want more members? Considering UCP is one of the main results on Goooooogle when it comes to car, I don't think we lack of exposition. We lack of low contents, silliness, brats, post whoring (maybe), stupid senseless threads and all those things who attract people we wouldn't enjoy to talk to.
There are other nice forums, even national ones (so language is quite a problem there), with a lot of interesting stuff, those you register yourself to just to see the attachments and so on, but I never stayed there, never did much more than looking to the material and downloading it.
The only thing I miss from UCP (no Facebook/Twitter/whatever plz) is more pictures from users. I'm guilty of this too, since I got the blog I didn't post my pics here as I used to, while on the other hand Down Under folks are carrying it on.
When I happen to browse SC.net the only thing it's worth of being said is the amount of images. Period. As an automotive pictures collector, I'd like more shots generally, that's all.

what you see as "cheap" i see it as "simple at organized"
you can see updates by coming to the website
and i do not even think most people here have facebook (or twiter for that matter)
also, it seems like the boards have indeeed gone more vanilla. anyone who posts here more and more seems to have more passionate and deeper opinions, that clashes with other members a lot. as a result they keep the posts more modest and post run-of-the-mill information, which of course is not going to incite many responses (both for and against).
