    Masserati - Cash for Clunkers

    Hi Folks:

Check out this CNN video of a 1985 Masserati Bi-turbo (18,000+ miles) that is gonna be crushed. The interior is superb. It wants to bring tears to my eyes.**trying hard to hold back the tears**)

The Biturbos from de De Tomaso era have a poor reputation, largely because many people mistreated them. Their second hand value is low, and the amounts made are too large to let all of them qualify to become classics. So yes, one or two, in a possibly poor mechanical conditions, might fall victim to the subsidised crusher, despite of a nice looking dash (which might actually be stripped off). The Merak case in Top Gear was worse by far.

Can someone tell me how the pointers of spelling errors surprisingly failed to see that the other alternative to playing the video successfully was by clicking on the tab above the actual video which states, "Video-Breaking News Video Fron CNN.Com" ??

Anyway, such a car looks too nice to be crushed. JMO.

Most people who know about cars knows that the Biturbos were terrible. Decent looking but terrible. Especially when I remember flipping through the used car ads when I was like 14 and dreamed of owning anything cool and seeing quite a few Biturbos for <$3000. The Biturbos are almost as bad as the Maserati badged Chrysler LeBarons.

All true but I for one would still rather drive a Maserati than see it crushed (I like Jeremy Clarkson but I certainly disagree with him on that issue). Even if it's slower than a modern Honda and not even half as practical, it's still a Maserati and I think that makes it cool.
