I've got my license right after been eligible, and I never owned a car of my own. At the moment I drive every 2-4 weeks, and the cars I drive are nothing special. I suppose it makes me even more hungry about cars and automotive knowledge.

My advice would be to get the license asap, compatibly with your imminent tasks. This summer will be fine .

get it asap. You never know when it might come in handy. Driving is an absolute blast. Plus, if you have a car (at least a decent one) the young ladies will appreciate you that much more .

I don't drive often either. I only drive every 3-4 weeks, at best. I dorm away from home and I don't have a car with me. But I do drive back when my parents drop me off after I visit for a weekend or so.

If you don't have a car and you can't use one to drive regularly (father's car) I think you shouldn't take your license just yet. I think you should drive plenty after taking the license, because once you get rusted it's more difficult to pick it up again.

As far as time commitement, you have summer vacations comming up...
