A slightly different "Name That Car"

I came across this at Laguna Seca, and thought this might be the place to use these shots. I have obscured the badge by smudging it slightly.
I am sure there will be some here who should get this without any trouble.
    Guess away.

    I'm probably wrong but if it's not a Jaguar D-Type, it's a car that I think looks a lot like a Jaguar D-Type.

Hmm, it looks like a modified Jaguar D-Type. But it's not... I want to say it's american starting with an "A", but can't remember it exactly.

It is not a Jag D-Type, but it is a contemporary.

First impression from a distance makes you think of a Jag, but that is not what we have here.
...and no, it does not start with an "A".

Badge almost looks like a Ginatta badge.
I want to die in my sleep like my Grandma, not screaming like the other 3 people in her car.

Well no, but this particular car has an Australian connection given the association badge on the grill (also with details obscured.)

I would say Ginetta as well b/c of the badge, is it some bastard car like the Chrysler Allard?

It is not a Ginetta, though some might call it a "Bastard" car, there is no Allard in there either. (I do have some shots of a Cadillac-powered Allard).
I will reveal all once we are done with the TV showing of GT1 at Algarve about 14:00 PDT.

The "A" I think Brix was thinking of was another contemporay the Arnolt Bristol ?
