    You know, people always say Communism doesn't work, but it certainly looks like it helps traffic congestion.

    Kinda looks how Cuba does still, old cars and few of them... lots of busses and motorbikes. And not much different than the first time we were there in the early 1990s. Edward, how about some contemporary traffic photos to show how much has changed in 30 years?

    A good read on China's recent economic development is "To Get Rich Is Glorious", an overview of China's equity markets. I read it after our first visit (Merrill opened it's offices with a joint venture in Shenzhen in 1990) and it clearly lays out the dichotomy of communism vis. capitalism some westerners have a hard time resolving. The phrase is usually attributed to Deng Xiaoping, or Mao depending on source.
    At any rate, it was encouragement to the Chinese that poverty isn't conducive to socialism. Kinda like certain fundamentalist religions say God wants believers to be rich. As in cash.
    Never own more cars than you can keep charged batteries in...

    Maybe as you know that traffic in Beijing is always bad in the whole day!
