Always a treat and with some clever captions.
Thanks for the bonus photos!
A very cool little special, designed like a 1/2 scale Indy roadster. The car apparently sat in the rafters of the AAR warehouse.
From the ad: "This 1959 Formula 3 racing car was constructed by Jerry Whitfill, Dan Gurney’s chief machinist for over 40 years.
Jerry's inspiration was the then-dominant Watson-Offenhauser Indy car, so he set to build a smaller version of it for the SCCA F3 class.
It was not completed in time to compete in the canceled F3 series."
Truthfully, it would have been outclassed anyway as the design was already obsolete. It's powered by a Triumph 500cc twin set to the front left of the driver. Sold last April for about $18k, the guy that bought it apparently had an in at Goodwood as it was quickly shipped
off in time for the big show. Looks fun!
Never own more cars than you can keep charged batteries in...
What a year 2011 has been. For cars anyway.
Speed has never killed anyone. Suddenly becoming stationary, that's what gets you."
