The Great Race (Bathurst 1000) Predictions

Going off the form from the previous round at Sandown, here are my predictions for the Great Race on October 9:

    - Lowndes to take Pole in the Top Ten Shootout
    - SBR cars to start strong but fade during the middle course of the race
    - The Castrol cars to be on the lead lap with 10-15 to go.
    - Lowndes,Skaife,Murphy and the one of the Castrol cars to be fighting it out for the win.
Well, could all be BS as well, anyone else care to make a prediction or two?

for me ,it's gonna be between Lowndes and Ambrose , with maybe a possible come back of Skaife...but it'd be a miracle

Murphy is always strong here expect him and Skaife to go at it for pole.
    The win will come down to 5 cars SBR(1)-HRT(2)-888-LPR(11)-SuperCheap(51). A smokey's is Kelly-Tander - Seaton-Johnson.

yeah hes teaming with Muller, which should be a formidable combination. theyve already surprised everyone at Sandown, but i think Ambrose, Ingall, Skaife, S.Richards and Murphy will be chasing them. Last year 888 had the front suspension failures that cost them 2 top 10 places, but im pretty sure theyve gone to 2 fresh new cars for this year, so that problem should be long fixed

I hope Ambrose wins. He was unlucky last year, as he had a quick car, but strategy and tyres let him down.

Lowndes has by far developed into a faster package for this year, he woulve been right there with Ambrose in the title chase if it wasnt for a bad start of the year.

How true he still might take it out the way he is going.

Hes down almost 200 points to both SBR drivers. Him and both HRT drivers realistically can only get back in with a chance from either a bad SBR result at Bathurst, or a DNF in one of the races at Indy, Symmons Plains and Phillip Island. Indy is very likely as its a concrete jungle where alot of idiots show their stuff...

Tips for Bathurst? Lowndes/Muller are obvious favourites - especially after Sandown when Muller dispelled any doubts about his ability. Also, I'm a fan of Lowndes, so that's my hope for the race anyway.
Outside this - Murphy/Weel are obvious candidates to win as well. Murphy loves Bathurst , and always goes well there. I'd say he is the guy most likely to challenge Jim Richards and Peter Brocks Bathurst win tallys in coming years.
    Then we have Skaife/Kelly, Richards/Dumbrell, Ambrose/Luff and Ingall/McLean.
After that Tander and Rick Kelly - remember Rick is going for the threepeat as well as Murph.
Also, Brad Jones/John Bowe always go well at Bathurst.
    Outside tips? Three - Seton/Canto, Richards/Courtney and Morris/Radisich.
Especially watch the veteran/youth combo of 7-times Bathurst winner Jim Richards and JGTC race winner James Courtney - they will go very well.
So, to go out on a limb. Top ten shootout will be (in no order): Lowndes, Skaife, Ambrose, Ingall, S. Richards, Murphy, Tander, Bowe, Jim Richards, Radisich.
Lowndes will get pole. Murphy's pole position record time of 2003 will not be beaten.
Top three at end of race: Lowndes/Muller, Murphy/Weel, Bowe/Jones.

There you go. I'll probably be wrong.
