    Emme Lotus 422T

Only 12 of these odd cars were made in Brazil before the factory was forced to shut down.
Arguably the most hideous of the world's fastest sedans, the Emme 422T delivers unbelievably potent performance from a 2.2L 4 cylinder engine. While mainly specializing in scooters, the Brazilian company Emme joined the British supercar maker Lotus in 1997 to produce an incredible sedan based on the existing Emme 420 and 420T. The 16-valve engine, which redlines at 7400 rpm, coupled with a turbocharger produces over 121 hp per litre and 354 Newton metres of torque. A five speed manual gearbox is the only transmission option available. 225/50 ZR 15 tires all around and 11.6" brake disks, vented in the front, hook up to the ground and provide the stopping power for the 422T. Only 12 were ever built, so your chances of running upon one are slim. And to be honest, the styling actually grows on you if you're not too revolted by the first impression. The Emme Lotus is only available in Brazil and possibly Europe so don't bother trying to contact your Lotus dealer in North America.

In 1997 the Megastar, a manufacturer of scooters hosted in the inward of the state of São Paulo, started to produce a luxurious saloon called Emme 400.
The vehicle, developed in Brazil, has typically Brazilian construction: tubular chassis and body made of plastic material. The novelty is that instead of fiber glass an advanced polymer was used, developed by Megastar, the VeXtrim.
According to the manufacturer, this material becomes the car lightest and immune to corrosion (such as the old fiber glass cars), besides diminishing the costs of production.

Its design is bold, with strong strings and personality, and it only was possible for the use of the VeXtrim, more versatile than steel.

The inward, ample and luxurious, counts with finishing in leather and wood, looking like some luxurious cars from UK, beyond itens as cd-changer and programable conditioning air.
The mechanics is very advanced. The suspensions are independent in the four wheels and have multiples link points, with double quadrilateral and torsional bar in the front and in the rear, where there's also an auto-directional axle. The engine is installed longitudinally in the front and the drive is on the rear wheels. The transmission is formed by a five speed manual gearbox marches and autolocking differential. The brakes uses discs in the four wheels and have servo.

There's three engine options avaiable for the purchaser: VW AP-2000 16v, VW AP-2000 16v Turbo and Lotus 910 2.2 Turbo. This last one generates respectable 190 hp of power, becoming the car a true sports one. According to Megastar the Lotus engine is capable to take the Emme to 273 km/h.

Emme 400 doesn't have a dealers network, the manufacturer didn't invest in adversiting and its price places it to fight with famous machines as BMW 3-Series, Chevrolet Omega and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. As result its sales are very limited, but Megastar remains healthful thanks to the success gotten for its scooters.

I think that looks cool. It reminds me of a Volvo. The Lotus version also has good performance. It also sounds that it is built with good quality and materials.

Yup, it's ugly. Only from the front though...otherwise it's not bad.
