QED, the topic has now changed to "going off topic in Aussies froums".

Let's for a change try to stick :HISTORICS

Depends what you call historic, other than the V8 Supercars we've got a touring car series that runs basically 15 year old cars, and another with 30 year old cars

I have been a regular visitor of historic races all over Europe since 1987 and I find that the selection of cars, the atmosphere and do justice to the all cars around, rather than concentrating on the winners. For instance isn't it strange that the F-1 cars that were backmarkers (Osella's, Tyrrell's etc) in the 70-ties and 80-ties are now really competing for wins. Historic Can-Am races (McLaren M8 anyone?) are really a joy to attend.

Theres a few historic rallies around the country, notably the Classic Adelaide that usually attract some nice classics but the only real historic racing is usually between 1965 Mustangs, Holden Monaro's, Holden Torana's and Mini's, much like Bathurst was before Group C

Theyre definately making a good support lineup alongside the V8's, all those complaining about the controlled 2 car format now have the BRutes and GT-P for a fair few rounds as support categories, i dont know what theyre doing with the Historics though, they'd be a great full time addition though provided the teams could keep up, Brock usually gets in there with one of his Torana and dices around with them as well

Mallala would be a prime example of a track where power down is alot more important than peak power, thats for sure. Clipsal, i dunno, being a street circuit its got the couple of hairpins and the host of right angled corners, so i guess its all in the setup still

Hope none hit the concrete, brakes will be a major factor, slowing down for the hairpin and the last corner before the Brabham straight should be a good vantage point as they will get fairly loose coming onto that straight

Theyre usually the places to take advantages of others mistakes, with such tight corners power down is everything so wheelspin is your worst enemy. I still cant get over Dumbrell's move last year though, you have to wonder what he has in store for this year

This was about real things. And yes historics are much more fun (and less competitive) than present day races. Just wait five years and the current V8's will become historics.
It's not really off topic, Cause the games we talk about are V8 supercar games
