im not 100 % sure but, the mitsubishi pajero has different names for specific countries, because the word pajero means masturbation in spanish i think.

    stupid car names huh,

well there are interesting names coming from east asians like leganza and leganza 2.or atos, or cherry qq or lanos. there also is the sonata.

how about ford crown victoria, what the f--- does that mean ? or how about the caprice.

there also is the KIA pride.

there are much more however these were just on top of my mind

You're right on this. They couldn't sell the Mazda Laputa here either, because that would translate as the Mazda Thebitch...

It sounds like Et merde!, something that the French say very often.

I don't know about the MR2 thing, french is my primary language and I can only come up with "et merdeux". When spoken fast however I agree it does sound like "merde". Also, we pronounce the "s" in Focus here, so it doesn't sound at all like "faux-cul". People would look at me like if was a tourist if I pronounced Focus that way here. Funny to see we both come from french-speaking places and pronounce things so differently.

I especially hate Alto Lapin from Suzuki as a car name. "Lapin" is a rabbit in french. Is it supposed to be a singing rabbit or what?

It's also a brand of milk sold by a supermarket.
I'm dropping out to create a company that starts with motorcycles, then cars, and forty years later signs a legendary Brazilian driver who has a public and expensive feud with his French teammate.
