Me: "DAMNIT, I gotta work, AHHHHHH."

Why did this have to happen? WHY!?!?!?!?
Get Danny to scrounge up another ticket and take your boss, volunteer to drive to the race and to buy the first round in the beer tent .... downside is you may be stuck as the designated driver

I would say pull a sickie, but they never work in real jobs. Try:
    (phone rings in Blockbuster)
    Manager: Hello?
Ferrari Tifosi with a cloth over the mouthpiece: Ferrari Tifosi can't make it into work until (whatever time the race ends) as he is in bed with me. If you have any problems with this, call my associates and they'll 'explain'. But you can expect not to come back to work for a while, as you'll be in hospital. And the same thing will happen if you fire him.
    Manager: (silence)
    F.T.W.C.O.M.: OK?
Manager: (hushed tones) Yes, of course. Tell him that he can expect a pay rise.
