Renault are planning to revive the Alpine brand to carry its upcoming sports cars.

There are several concepts which could be produced, at first as RenaultSport cars, and depending on their success, it could lead to the rebirth of the Alpine badge. Nothing definate has been decided just yet though.

The Wind and Fluence concepts point at what could be coming, whilst two more concepts are planned for the 2005 Geneva and Frankfurt motorshows.

Rather than re-engineering cars already in production, they will be bespoke cars, with a sporting intent (like the RenaultSport Spyder).

One possibility is to use Nissan's FM platform, currently underpinning the 350Z, Infiniti G35, FX45 and 2007 Skyline, as well as the 3.5 V6.

The Fluence indicates a desire to make another push towards the premium market, a large coupe (roughly the same size as the Laguna) which could be a modern equivelant of the A610. Renault's previous attempts at moving up in the world have been thwarted by the slightly dissapointing reception of the Aventime and Vel Satis.
