Maybe I was too harsh. My list for 1985:

VW Scirocco
Ford Mustang
AE86 Toyota

There almost have to be more but I can't think of them at the moment.

EDIT: Shouldn't have forgotten the Volvo 240DL Turbo wagons.

The Ferrari 288 GTO was produced in 1985... that's a pretty cool car.

And for something cheaper, the early Toyota Celicas and Celica Supras were really nice, RWD coupes. The Nissan Skyline R31 generation was pretty cool looking too.

The Honda Prelude would have also been a nice pick. By that time it was onto the second generation, and while not my favorite, still has the popup headlights.
