End of WRC as we know it ??

Apparently because the WRC is getting waaay to expensive nowerdays and teams are havig to pull out because of financial reasons by 2006 the FIA are planning to basically scrap WRC as we know it and make it a Super 2000 class

the cars that they will be using are basically 2 litre cars with no engines and follow, basically the same rules as the Super1600 championship at the moment but with 2L cars.

Is it me or is motorsport getting kind of sucky at the moment /?

Aw man, what happened to the good ol' days with Subaru and the others just racing without all this new stuff.

BTW, what year did Tommi switch to Subaru?
I'm just curious after seeing a WRC race with Tommi racing a Subaru.

I believe he switched either 2 or 3 seasons ago.

Or the beginning of stupid motorsports. Good thing the V8 Supercars aren't leaving along with Le Mans and the Monaco Grand Prix. That would suck.

nothing much will change. just the marketing i think.
it will still have the major teams involved.
from the sounds of it, they will still run 2.0 litre cars, and it will just be a cheaper way. i think it will be a good change in a way.

BTW: on a rally subject, colin Mc Rae rally 2005 is the best colin EVER! i think its better then Richard burn's rally, and way better then WRC # 2 /3

    dont think so

Im pretty sure that in the article unless the road car was 4WD the rally car wasnt allowed to be.

so that means that car companys would be making more 4wd cars

I have read in a recent article in Auto Oggi that Fiat is interested in running a team in WRC, now because of recent events they may not join> I would love to see an Italian Team in WRC, I remember the days of Lancia Martini, they were a great team.

Lancia gets the headlines because of the 037 and the Integrale.

BUt, the 131 competed well against the mighty Escorts and the Fiat 124 Spyder was a thing of beauty. I'd be happy to have Italian rally cars back regardless of the badge

They were developing a 4wd Focus Cosworth, but as it was going the way of the RS, i.e. taking an absolute age, they decided to drop the project, and concentrate on a "Cosworth" version of the Focus MkII.

However, Ford are selling Cosworth Racing...

I think the WRC should go back to how it was in the early - mid '90s when it was Group A
    Thanks for all the fish
