    Steyr-Puch

    Steyr-Puch

Steyr did not resume the own production of cars after the second world, but limited itself to building Fiats under license. (They did produce trucks under their own name though). One exception was the Steyr Puch which was basically a Fiat 500, but this time a two cylinder boxer engine was fitted, in stead of the vertical twin of the 500. This resulted in a very low centre of gravity and as the engine was easy to tune, the Steyr Puch became a nice weapon in the smallest classes for touring cars.

The Polish Rallye ace Sobieslaw Zasada was unbeatable in the car and also on the track the Puchs were at the forefront.

The car was built from 1956 to 1969 and 54,300 were produced.
