    Upcoming Porsche Panamera!

So, production of the panamera will start in '09, according to the people at Zuffenhausen, & the car is sure to be a great performer.
The car is to be offered in 4 dr coupe, wagon & Grand Tourer forms, powered by a version of Cayenne Turbo's V8, with the flagship model powerred by the Carrera GT's v10.

With this thread is a poll. Please state your opinion over the issue of the 2009 Panamera

I've said this before and I'll say it again. Porsche should stick to doing what it does best...building some of the worlds finest sports cars. Let the other guys worry about making cars for the family and soccer moms.

Well, seeing as there have been no pics of the car or any prototypes/concepts seen, it's pretty difficult to say. Ask me in a couple of years when the car is beginning to break cover, then I'll tell you if I think it's a good idea or not.

Generally speaking though, the Cayenne has proved that anything with the Porsche badge on it will sell, so I can't really see the project failing. And in terms of the overall quality and the dynamic capabilities of the car it's been a very long time since Porsche dropped the ball on that count, so I can't see that being a problem either. If they get the looks right then I see no reason why not.

it's nice but i don't think it should have a V10 and they should've worked on something to take the 924,928,0r 944's place

It's good. They should make it. It may even increase the sales of Porsche. Besides, there are people with a family that own a Porsche 997 911, 911, Carrera GT, Boxster, Cayman S. So, they would probably get a Porsche Panamera for their everyday family uses.

Aston Martin has a great heritage in sports cars, but I don't see anything wrong with the Rapide or the old Lagonda. I think Panamera is really a good idea from Porsche, since other competiting manufacturers are having their 4-door GTs as well, such as the upcoming Lamborghini Espada.

I think it's a nice idea, nowt wrong with moving into a new sector of the market. Also, they do have an everyman's porsche now, it's the Boxter, so they don't need a new 944. I believe they should have just made the new boxter a nice new hardtop option rather than making the Cayman, it seems a bit pointless. Also, they're copping a lot of flac for it not being as good as it could have been, for the obvious reasons, and that could have been avoided. Seems to me that the Cayman is only going to take sales from the Boxter and the 911 Carerra.

Porsche should disband all thoughts about it. A GT version is ok but wagon, sedan...
928 wasn't great neither will this be.

After building the Cayenne, I could care less. 5 years ago I would have said no though. I bet it'll look exactly like this.

Porsche does need a new 944. They need some front-engined masterpieces.
