I'm looking at one with 90k miles with a manual 5 speed tranny. A 1998 528i. The price is $11,995. I think it's a lil much considering I can get something almost new that is FWD with a V6 most likely but I despise FWD.

Real cars are not FWD.

I think the older E34 5-series run on regular unleaded.

Says here they run on regular.

But here it says they run on premium.

So it's premium I guess.

If you want something RWD and cheap on gas just get a 240SX or something.
Most modern cars that use knock sensors can use lower octane fuel than recommended. The timing is automatically retarded for high load conditions. This is sad because it doesn't seem to be a necessity. As Honda's 3.0 SOHC V6 is tuned for Regular Unleaded, and it's a high compression/high specific output engine. Buy a Ford Escort, its been excluded from the brands that suck list, so it must be good.
The escort in America sucks balls.Originally Posted by h00t_h00t
It's a domestic here so it still sucks plus the tranny sucks in those cars and I'm sick of swapping trannys on FWD cars for now.Originally Posted by h00t_h00t
Gas here is $3 for regular and $3.20 for premium. They are murdering the working class in the a hole.

I'd be thankful to have a knock sensor in my car. It means that I've got peace of mind if I fill up with a bad batch of fuel (i.e shitty dirty imported singaporean ULP) or have no choice but to put ULP in itOriginally Posted by PerfAdv

Once I pumped some bad gas that must have been contaminated with some water. I'm thinking water because it was an old gas station near the docks. The car ran really crappy, lacking power and felt like it was misfiring. I put a can of water evaporator (don't remember the name but that's what it did) and after the next tankful the car ran fine.Originally Posted by 2ndclasscitizen
I'm thinking it's some gas stations that have contaminated tanks and when the tanks are running low you end up pumping the crud into your car. If it was the supplier, they'd be gone in no time.
