Without all the surface excitement of later models the original Esprit concept still looks modern and fresh.

Eureka!!! Lotus should do a retro-Esprit. Instead of a 70's car that was looking to the future, the new car should be a throughly modern car (ahem... with modern ergonomics) with all the charm of a 60's model. Complete with chrome rimmed dials with Yellowed faces, Connolly leather and raspy pre-catalytic exhaust. And it should look like much like the red concept, just retro-ed.
