What makes you believe that "most world armies" use H1?

Apparently H1 wasn't good enough for the AU army, they chose Defender

The H1 is definitely the best out of these. They are very nice inside while having very, very good off-roading abilities. They also have 16 inches of ground clearence stock and 30 inch water fording capabilities I believe.

I go for the Defender. My friends dad has a 110 and it's such a cool car. We have had some great fun with it

With such a long wheelbase I think H1 would need every bit of its 16 inch ground clearance .. and then some

As for fording capabilities, 30 inches is about crotch height. I've forded river crossings about 20" deep (knee high) in an unmodified '78 Holden 2wd passenger sedan!

How would Hummer H1 compare against this Nissan Patrol through chest-high water at Moreton Island, Queensland

The Toyota hilux pick-up is the obvious choice, it used by every medium to large militia around the world.

It may have a longish wheelbase but it has short overhangs which mean that its ascent and descent angles are very good. It could probably make it through that because the air intake is on top of the hood.

Any Landrover will win for offroad ability hands down. But there build quality lets them down

Of all these choices, why no Jeeps? The willys, CJs, and wranglers are pretty much offroading icons. The TJ wrangler Rubacions have been considered the best "out of the box" offroad SUV by many automotive authorities. Then there is the XJ (my personal favorite). Those things stock can really kick it offroad. Plus they have one of the largest aftermarket backings in the offroad world. Basically what I'm trying to say here is, when it comes to serious offroading, "Only in a Jeep".
