They just can't help themselves at Cadillac. Just as they tell us they want to be taken seriously as an upscale brand in Europe, they go and bling it up at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

Caddy says the Platinum range will 'bring additional elegant design touches'.

We say more chrome 'n' wood does not a luxury car make.

Still, if you want to stand out from the herd of German exec-luxo machines, a Caddy XLR roadster or STS saloon could be just the ticket, and we can also look forward to the high-performance versions of this pair arriving this side of the pond in the summer of 2007.

Platinum? Why not just call them Bling? They dont look like high luxury! They just look like pimp mobiles. Look at the rims on that XLR!

Other than the CTS, Cadillacs actually do have style. The chrome wheels are a little over the top but a lot of people seem to love Bling... Sad, it's just a lack of taste, even a lot of otherwise sober cars parade around with chromies.

Oh I love Cadillacs. Seems to me they're the only American passenger cars with any real flair. But these are just horrible..That DTS! My eyes!
Then you take a look at that EXT. Makes me want to burn things...

You've got to think about the american mentality. A huge number of people over here LOVE the whole hip-hop scene so its a move to be taken seriously by a younger american audience, I mean I don't think many 75 year olds will go in to a dealership asking for the "DUB" edition anytime soon!

PS: The V-series is pretty neat too; my grandparents have a CTS-V and its a blast to drive and very easy as well.
