This was a specific reference to the Honda TT bikes.
These were engines revving to 28,000 and the materials were very exotic in the 60s. No way to replace valves, pistons, castings etc. They "only" revved it to 20,000 when they had it at the IoM -- still sounded brill
The mechanics described how they looked after them based on the design life of the engine/components and it's usage to date. They predicted a point when the engine woudl only get run once a year, then once every 5 years and then every 10 and then etc etc Glad I got a chance to hear it.
