    New Honda iV-TEC engine

    Hope this ain't a repost!

Found a little video on Honda's website giving a presentation on the new 1.8l engine. Thought those of you of a technical disposition might enjoy it, as it goes through the details of their techniques for increasing both performance and fuel efficiency. The 3D graphics are pretty cool to look at too, really good at explaining what's going on in there.

One thing I didn't quite get on there is "high strength cracked con-rods"?

What do they mean by "cracked"? How does having something cracked make it stronger?!

i wouldnt call the new honda civic coupe a POS. Im not a massive hinda fan but...

The Civic Si Concept celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Civic Si legacy in the U.S. and builds on its performance heritage with a 200-horsepower, 16-valve, DOHC i-VTEC engine with an 8,000 rpm red line, mated to a close ratio 6-speed manual transmission. Helping to put all that power to the ground is a helical-type limited slip differential for improved launch traction and cornering performance.
that sounds very nice to me...

well, not every 20 year-old can drive an AC Cobra ( ). Its hardly crap!

its cool to see "F1" technology finally put to good use instead of just paddles gearboxes.

The connecting rod is made all in one peice (cap and rod) then broken apart. makes the material stronger which means you can use less of it...

I don't know what they talking about this engine getting good mileage. The 2005 Civic Si has the same engine and it gets 26/31 which is not impressive but it's 2.0-liter not 1.8.
