    Toyota (F1-2008) TF108

Toyota today became the latest F1 team to unveil their 2008 car - the TF108, to be piloted by Jarno Trulli and Timo Glock. It is this car which the Japanese team will be hoping can finally turn around their rather dismal fortunes in Formula 1. The talk from the Japanese HQ is that they have two years to become serious contenders in the world's premier motorsport competition or they will possibly pull the plug. This year will be crucial, as they will be looking to at least get on par or ahead of the likes of Red Bull, Honda and Williams in '08. The progress of this car could well be make or break for the team.

I've only found a few Hi-Res images so far, but there is a large low-res gallery showing a lot more detail of the car here - GPUpdate.net - Every day updated Formula One news! (For Formula One news, results, photos and more!)

The car seems to look noticeably smoother and simpler aerodynamically in comparison to the Ferrari and McLaren cars released earlier this week, particularly around the barge-board area in-front of the sidepods. Toyota's 'bridge' front wing looks similar to the one tested by McLaren at Jerez this week, whilst they seem to have developed Ferrari style front wheel covers.

It's remarkable how few sponsors there are on the car.
If you should see a man walking down a crowded street talking aloud to himself, don't run in the opposite direction, but run towards him, because he's a poet. You have nothing to fear from the poet - but the truth.

It looks as if the background was unsuccessfully painted white. Looks weird. Where are the air inlets on the driver's sides?

That's a nice change. It makes it more clean. Maybe it's lighter because it has less stickers?

To me its got a striking resemblance to the FW28, which of course looked alot like the MP4/20. I think Toyota's still playing catchup unfortunately. But at least now they should have a base thats at least comparable to their midfield competition.

    Fixed, like Ferrari...

FYI, paintjob on an F1 car weighs up to 6KG, losing the vinyl sticker aren't doing much for you.....

whoa, doesn't each kilogram equal to half a second on the track?

so by not painting the cars one could shave off three seconds?

it'd be ugly, but it'd win.

bare bones and decals for the literal win.

Remember all drivers don't weight the same thing. Massa isn't 4 seconds slower than Räikkönen because he weights 8 kg more, for example.

I don't know if you were serious or not...

For a few good years, the cars have easily been under the 600/605kg minimum weights. Ballast makes them the legal weight.

Minardi always had some stickers on it, as well as those out-of-107%-cars in 1990-s...
