<< Prev Page 2 of 2 The American team continued to race their Dallara SP1 through to the middle of the 2003 season, scoring additional wins at Homestead, the California Speedway and Mont Tremblant. In Europe, Team Oreca carried on with their effort, also using the Judd V10. One of the re-engined Chrysler LMPs won at Estoril and for Le Mans, two brand new cars were fielded. Beaten only by the works Audis and Bentleys the privately entered cars placed a commendable fifth and sixth overall.
During the 2003 season, the Dallara SP1s were not raced but new customers were found for 2004 in Rollcentre Racing, who at one point had three examples in their stable and the Spinnaker team. The cars were raced at Le Mans and in the European Le Mans Series through to the end of the 2005 season. The best results were a pair of third place finishes for the Rollcentre team. They also briefly raced once example with a twin-turbo Nissan V6 but with little luck.
Raced for five seasons, the Dallara SP1 was particularly successful in 2002 when it won the Daytona 24 Hours outright and became best of the rest at Le Mans. Whether it could have done even better with full factory support beyond the 2001 season, we will never know. To this day, Gianpaolo Dallara has a scale model of the car on his desk to remind him of what could have been. << Prev Page 2 of 2
