Page 1 of 1 Announced in 2014, the latest creation by the Arash Motor Company is the Arash AF8 sports car. Following the Farboud GT, Farboud GTS and the Arash AF8, it is the fourth all-new machine created by Arash Farboud in just over a decade. He used the experience gained during these years to create what is Farboud's first ever real production car.
The AF8 is built around a proprietary steel tubular spaceframe, which is further reinforced by aluminium and carbon-fibre composite sections. Suspension is through double wishbones on all four corners. The new Arash is powered by a sizeable but very light V8, which produces around 550 bhp. Mated to a six-speed gearbox, the dry-sump, all-aluminium is mounted amidships in the spaceframe chassis.
The compact machine is clothed in a carbon fibre composite body that combines cues from the Farboud and Arash models with new lines. The angular design has relatively short front and rear overhangs and features a forward driving position. Mounted on top of the tall tail is a small wing, which along with the very wide rear tyres ensures the AF8 sticks to the road. The completed car weighs in at exactly 1,200 kg.
One of the very first public outings for the Arash AF8 prototype was at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Back in the Newmarket-based factory work is under way to start series production. The first 25 examples will all be finished in the striking yellow livery as seen at Goodwood. Page 1 of 1
