Page 1 of 1 Early in 2015, Ave Motorsport and Riley Technologies announced the development of a new LMP3 prototype. Dubbed the Ave-Riley AR-2, it is actually the second car created by the two American companies. The first was the AR-1 Trans-Am racer. For the LMP3 car, Riley Technologies have taken up the responsibility of the design and developed, while the cars are actually assembled by veteran racer and constructor Tony Ave's company.
Designed to meet the relatively tight, cost-capped LMP3 regulations, the AR-2 fits in the moulds of its European rivals. It is built around a carbon-fibre composite monocoque and features double-wishbone and push-rod actuated suspension on all four corners. Like its rivals, the AR-2 will be powered by a Nissan V8 engine supplied by Oreca. This is mated to an XTrac, paddle-operated six-speed gearbox.
The first team to announce a program for the new AR-2 is Murphy Motorsports, who will field one of the Ave-Rileys in the 2016 European Le Mans Series. One of the drivers will be Tony Ave himself. Page 1 of 1
