The American specialist manufacturer, headed by enthusiast and collector Jim Glickenhaus, are keen to score the first 24 Hours of Le Mans victory for an American car for over 50 years.

With the rules now finalised, further renderings and details of the upcoming SCG 007 have been released. The car is developed together with specialists Podium Advanced Technologies in Italy, while a bespoke twin-turbo V6 has been created that will be branded SCG. In race trim, it is good for 840bhp with a minimum engine life of 30 hours. The competition car will tip the scales at 1,100kg.

SCG will race the 007 themselves in the 2020/21 FIA World Endurance Championship, which will culminate in 2021 with the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The new American racer will also be offered to customers for a price starting at €2 million. As per the Hypercar regulations, SCG will also offer a road going version, which will only differ where strictly necessary.

The plan is to have the design and engineering work done by July, with the first car being assembled in August. Testing should commence in September with Jim Glickenhaus himself due to complete the first lap in the 007.
