Page 1 of 1 This is the Chaparral 2H as raced in the 1969 Can-Am. The 2H was built to replace the aging 2G in 1968 but its dion rear beam broke during testing because of the force of the Chevrolet engine, a solution was found but it took almost the entire season to adjust the design. It was designed to drive with a fully-enclosed cockpit but driver John Surtees complained about poor visability so the 'roof' was removed, this again took some time so the introduction of the 2H was further delayed. The 2H was a complicated but promising design but the car was better on paper than on the track. John Surtees was never competitive in the 2H and the program was abandoned. Page 1 of 1
