Page 1 of 1 To replace the Brescia Bugatti launched the small Type 40 in 1926. The Type 40 was a combination of parts of different cars on a new chassis. The engine was a modified version of the Type 37 racer launched in 1925, as were the brakes and the gearbox and drivetrain were derived from the Type 38. A total of 780 chassis were completed of the small nimble car. Some were fitted with the Type 49 engine and a new body and renamed Type 40A. The fine handling Type 40 was the last of small Bugatti road cars. Page 1 of 1
