Chassis:
One of the 1932 Le Mans works cars, this Touring bodied 8C 2300 was driven by Lord Howe and Tim Birkin. They briefly led the race before the engine threw a rod. Once repaired, Howe drove the car to a third on handicap in the TT. The car was subsequently returned to Italy where it was re-bodied by Pinin Farina and sold as a new car. Eventually the car ended up in the United Kingdom where it passed through various hands until it was acquired by watchmaker George Daniels. He had the Pinin Farina body removed and replaced by a replica of the Touring Le Mans style body. The ex-Tim Birkin 8C 2300 will be offered from his estate in Bonhams' Goodwood Festival of Speed sale on June 29th. It is estimated to sell for 2.5 - 4 million pounds.
