Chassis:
The first of three chassis produced by Shadow ahead of the 1971 season, '71-1' was originally raced as a Mk II before it was updated to Mk III specification for the 1972 Can-Am. The exact race-by-race history of this particular Shadow is not known. The car was eventually sold by Don Nichols and has since been meticulously restored by Scott Drnek of Virtuoso Performance. He explained that the carefully rebuilt engine produces as much as 1,080 bhp on a cold day. Driving on behalf of the current owner, Drnek is seen here in action during the 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
