Chassis:
The first of five 721Gs built, this was the car originally ordered for and raced by Mike Beuttler. Although he failed to qualify the car at its debut, he quickly came to grips with it. The best result was a fourth place finish in a non-championship race. For 1973 the chassis was upgraded to 731 specification and raced with little success by Beuttler, Jarier, David Purley and Reine Wisell. Still in 731 guise the car ended up in Sweden where it remained for many years, sporting the livery used by Wisell in the Swedish Grand Prix.
In 2010, the Swedish owner brought it out for the Monaco Historic Grand Prix where it struggled. The car was subsequently acquired by a front-running English historic racer. He commissioned Simon Hadfield to return the car to its 1972 specification as raced by Beuttler. At its 2012 Monaco Historic Grand Prix debut, it was among the front runners in the practice and qualifying session. Unfortunately a very messy start, saw the 721G eliminated from the race to no fault of its driver.
