Chassis:
The second new Daytona Competizione sold to Luigi Chinetti in 1973, chassis 16407 was raced extensively by the likes of Sam Posey and Francois Migault. In NART colours it was not particularly successful but later in the decade got a second lease of life when actor Robert Carradine campaigned the car. The best result was a second overall and first in class at the 1979 Daytona 24 Hours. It then moved almost seamlessly into historic racing, first with James McRoberts and then from 1984 with John Giordano. He would own and race the Daytona for nearly four decades. The next custodian had it meticulously restored and showed it at the 2024 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Here it was awarded the Enzo Ferrari Trophy. The following year, it was consigned to the Gooding Christie’s Pebble Beach Auctions.
