Completed in 1937, this 540 K Cabriolet A was sold new to an Italian customer through Mercedes-Benz dealer Carlo Saporiti in Milan. During the 1950s, it was sold to the United States and soon after became the centre piece of the 40-car collection created by IBM World Trade Corporation CEO Arthur K. Watson. The car was later shown at the Owl's Head Museum of Transportation and was eventually acquired by the current owner from Skip Barber in 2004. The lovely Cabriolet A has since been restored by Oldtimer Restoration Center, resulting in a Pebble Beach 'Best in Class' in 2009.
