Chassis:
One of only a handful of ZL1s built by the factory, this example was sold new to John Maher of Leechburg, Pennsylvania. It was painted 'Monaco Orange' by the factory while the spartan interior and hardtop were clothed in black vinyl. Maher owned the car for nearly four decades but only sparingly used it. As a result, it covered just 3,000 miles when the current owner acquired it in 2007. The very rare Corvette ZL1 is seen here during the 2008 Quail, a Motorsports Gathering. One of two ZL1 Convertibles believed to have been built, it was subsequently restored. Once the work was completed, the car received the prestigious Bloomington Gold certification in 2014. In 2018, it was loaned to the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum. In 2023, it was consigned to the RM Sotheby’s Arizona auction, making it the first time in three decades that a ZL1 was offered for sale, publicly.
