Ordered as a rolling chassis by German industrialist Hans Klepper, this BMW 328 was sent to coach-builder Wendler for an aerodynamic Coupe body. Using the principles defined by Paul Jaray, the design was penned by Baron Reinhard Koenig-Fachsenfeld. Some adaptations were made by Wendler's in-house designer Helmut Schwandner before the drawings were turned into metal. The results were very impressive; at 180 km/h, the top speed was up by 30 km/h compared to the standard roadster.
One of possibly two built, this Wendler Coupe is today owned by a German collector. He loaned the car to BMW for the 2009 Villa Erba display where aerodynamic designs were celebrated.
