Chassis: 555/1
The first 555 F1, this chassis debuted at the non-championship Turin Grand Prix. Giuseppe Farina tried the car in practice but decided to race his tried and trusted 625 F1 instead. Chassis 555/1 was then shared in the Monaco Grand Prix by Pierro Taruffi and Paul Frere. Unfortunately, a gearbox issue hindered them throughout the race. Frere later scored a commendable fourth-place finish in his home Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps. It was then raced to seventh by Mike Hawthorn, who had rejoined Ferrari after Farina abrubtly retired from racing. Hawthorn also drove the car at Monza but gearbox issues once again troubled the Super Squalo during the race.

Chassis 555/1 then became one of two 555 F1s converted to Formula Libre specifications. The changes included a slightly longer wheelbase to accommodate a 3.5-litre engine from the 860 Monza sports racer. Now known as chassis FL/9001, it was raced very successfully by Peter Whitehead in Australia during the 1956 season. During the following year, Tom Clark continued to add wins to its tally. At one point, the Super Squalo was fitted with a V8 engine and clothed in a Morris Minor style body. Fortunately, the 860 Monza engine was preserved and reunited with the car during the late 1960s when it was restored to single seater configuration.

Following a spell in the Donington Grand Prix Collection museum and the Yoshiyuki Hayashi collection. It was then acquired by Nick Harley in 1996, who it fully restored to its original Formula 1 specification by Tony Merrick. Once the work was completed, the 555 F1 was entered in the 1997 Monaco Historic Grand Prix for Willie Green. Now in new ownership, the single seater Ferrari was then raced to victory at Monaco in 2000 by Martin Stretton. Later that same year, it entered in long-term ownership with a Spanish enthusiast. It was sparingly shown at events and made a rare on-track appearance during the 2016 Goodwood Revival Meeting. Following a quarter century in the same hands, it was consigned to the 2025 Bonhams Les Grandes Marques du Monde à Paris sale.
