Chassis:
This short chassis Delahaye is one of the very first 'Teardrop' Coupes built by Figoni & Falaschi. Ordered by Jean Tremoulet, the car combines a unique aluminum coachwork with the competition engine. Another distinguishing feature is the slightly longer tail compared to similar 'Teardrops.' After the War, it was hidden away in a Paris garage until it was discovered in 2000. The Delahaye, particularly its aluminum body, had survived remarkably well. The new owner lovingly restored the rare 135 S before showing it at various events, like the 2002 Louis Vuitton Classic in Paris where it is shown here. Repainted black, it was offered in the May 2009 Worldwide Auctioneers Houston Auction where a bid of $1.9 million was not enough to persuade the current owner to sell the car.
