Chassis:
The third 250 LM built, this car was originally finished in red but after taking delivery by Ecurie Francorchamps, it was quickly re-painted in the Belgian national racing colour of yellow. Chassis 5843 was raced by a variety of drivers including the likes of Jean Blaton, Lucien Bianchi and Pierre Noblet. It was mostly successful in local events, although Bianchi also placed second overall in the Angolan Grand Prix. After its contemporary racing career, it was sold to the United States where it has remained for most of its life, spending many years in the collection of Lou Sellyei. The current owner acquired the car in 2002 and showed it at Pebble Beach in 2010 following a complete restoration.
