Chassis:
Chassis 003 was one of the three cars sent to Nassau for the 1963 Bahamas Speed Week. It was entered by John Mecom to make sure nobody suspected that the highly advanced Corvettes were in fact prepared by General Motors employees. This Grand Sport was raced at Nassau by Jim Hall in four races, scoring a third and fourth. In 1964 Mecom entered the car for A.J. Foyt and John Cannon in the Sebring 12 Hours. The two finished a lowly 23rd due to broken wheel in the final hour. At the end of the season, it was raced at Nassau again, scoring one class victory. The final major appearance came at the 1965 Sebring race, where it finished 36th after qualifying in 21st.
The third Grand Sport has since been restored to its 1964 Sebring livery. It is owned by a prominent American collector. In 2007 it won best in show in the inaugural Concours on the Avenue in Carmel. Chassis 003 was also shown at the 2008 The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering and demonstrated at the 2010 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
