Chassis:
The first Chaparral built by Troutman-Barnes, chassis 001 was not surprisingly used by Jim Hall himself. He debuted the car at a Modified race at Laguna Seca in June of 1961, where Hall promptly finished second overall and first in class. Wearing the number 66 now synonymous with Chaparral racing cars, Hall later in the year raced in the Riverside Grand Prix where he finished third after starting fifth. Another impressive result was a class win at the 1962 Daytona 3 Hours. The final outing of the car came at the 1963 Sebring 12 Hours, for which it was fitted with a sharper nose and fins on the rear deck. The very first Chaparral has since been restored to its original configuration.
