Following its London Motor Show duties in October of 1961, the luxuriously appointed 250 GT Coupe Speciale was sold to its first owner through Ferrari's British representative Maranello Concessionaires. He used the car both at his Jersey and Portugal residences, and had it maintained by Ferrari until at least 1966. The car resurfaced in completely original condition with 49,000 miles on the odometer in the late 1970s and in the following years passed through the hands of various owners including collector Lorenzo Zambrano and legendary sports car entrant John W. Mecom. In 1992 Zambrano reacquired the car and showed it at many events. During the late 1990s he commissioned Steve Tillack to perform a complete restoration. The one-off re-appeared at Pebble Beach in 2001 where it won best in class. In most recent years, the car changed hands again and in 2013 made another appearance at Pebble Beach. The current owner has now consigned the unique Ferrari to Gooding's January 17th Scottsdale auction. The pre-sale estimate is a hefty $2.4 - $3 million.
